Server Upgrades

Upgrading servers doesnt need to be a scary, lengthy experience, that means down time for your business. In fact, upgrading your server should mean the opposite, it should make your business more efficient, and data storage safer.

Upgrading your server also doesn't necessarily mean you need to upgrade the whole server, hardware (the computer ir runs on) and software (the application that runs the server, for example, Windows Small Business Server)

If your looking to upgrade your server and currently running Windows small business server (SBS) 2000, 2003, 2003 R2 or 2008, you can now update to 2011.

Lets look at a few reasons why to may need to upgrade your server:

  • Slow Server: When your server is running slow it impacts on business downtime and productivity. This may require new hardware and software, depending the reasons why your server is running slow. To find the issue with a slow server, a diagnostic test is required, so you know what needs updating. This can save unneccessary costs to your business.

  • Time wasting: Ongoing issues your continually fixing can simply waste valuable time that you could be spent on important aspects of your business, time to upgrade your server.

  • Old parts, noisy fans: If your fan is making that annoying noisy sound, its telling you parts in the server are ageing, which means your server may break down. Time to backup and upgrade if you can.

  • Out of warranty: When your server is out of warranty, there's a chance the manfacturer has stopped supporting the hardware and software (generally after 3 years). If your server fails, this will cuase more downtime as the server is out of date. Time to upgrade.

  • Exceeding space: If the requirement of the software that runs on the server exceeds the servers speficiations, you require a new server. Small business may manage memory crisis in the short term, without thinking about long-term needs. This can lead to more down-time, and costly fixes.

  • Server Failure: Hardware and software upgrades are essential when the server fails.
